When residents move into FirstHome™ Hazelton Place later this year, they’ll be able to try out their green thumb by growing their own plants, herbs, spices or vegetables in our greenhouse and gardening plots that will, for the first time, be built into the landscaping of the community. This urban agricultural concept is brand new to our FirstHome™ Communities and FirstHome™ Hazelton Place will be the very FIRST to offer this environmentally responsible amenity.

The community garden at FirstHome™ Hazelton Place is a great way for neighbours to get to know one another. Raised stone edged planter beds will be divided into sections to allow more than one person to garden at a time. Convenient water taps will be located at either end of the gardening area so residents never have to go far to water their plants, and a nearby user friendly composter provides a place for any gardening waste.

The greenhouse at FirstHome™ Hazelton Place will help kick start the growing season in early spring before the ground is soft and extend the harvesting into late fall. The greenhouse will also have hardware for hanging plants, water, lighting, and power available inside and roof vents will help control the temperature which supports a nurturing environment for your plants. Local and non-local plants can be grown in the greenhouse as it helps to optimize conditions so that you can grow just about anything.
